AccountNow lost prepaid lost debit cardsDo you find yourself constantly losing your credit card, debit card, or prepaid card? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Losing cards seems to be a very common problem among credit, debit, and prepaid card cardholders. Here are some helpful tips to prevent you from losing your card. Enjoy, and use these to prevent the hassle of having to order a new card and keep your identity safe and sound.

  1. Always keep your card in the same place. Make good habits. Be sure to put it in the same spot in your wallet after every purchase so that you always know where it is.
  2. Don’t lend out your card. Some of the most often card losses occur when people lend it to a friend to use and never get it back. If you do lend your card to a friend, you will be responsible for any transactions made by your friend until the card is returned to you or you call to close the card account. Lend cash instead, better safe than sorry.
  3. Always keep your PIN a secret. This will avoid getting your identity stolen. You never know who is around and what they are capable of. It is best to select a PIN that is easy for you to remember. To protect you from fraud, your PIN should never be written down. Forgot your PIN?
  4. Try out a phone case with a cardholder. People always have their smart phones attached to them at all times. Many companies offer a phone case with a built in compartment for your debit card. This is useful to keep everything in one place.
  5. Don’t give out your card number to untrusted sites. Many identity thefts are committed through email offers. If you receive an unsolicited email asking for your card number or other personal information DO NOT give it out. Only enter card info into reliable sites.
  6. Check your purchase history online. This will show you the last place you used your card, allowing you to retrace your steps.
