AccountNow generally receives direct deposits from the Social Security Administration prior to the payment date shown on the schedule of Social Security Benefits payments for 2013. As soon as AccountNow receives these deposits, we post the payment onto your prepaid card, to get your money to you as soon as possible. AccountNow has no control over when we receive direct deposits from the government.
Government payments are generally received before 8pm Central time. As a reminder we always post direct deposits as soon as we receive them as long as your account has been activated and is in good standing.
Direct Deposit – Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
Direct Deposit can be used for paychecks & government benefits checks (Social Security, SSI, SSDI, DFAS or VA compensation). All or part of your paycheck/benefits check can be directly deposited into your card account. Existing cardholders can log in to the online Customer Center to print a direct deposit form. Fill it out and give it to your employer or benefits provider. The form will include both a bank routing number (sometimes referred to as the ‘ABA Routing Number’) and your deposit account number.
How long will it take?
It generally takes 1 or 2 pay periods for Direct Deposit to begin. Ask your Employer or Benefits provider for more information.
How much does it cost?
Direct Deposit is a free† service for you and your employer or benefits provider.
How will I get paid faster?
Direct Deposit is the fastest way to get paid and avoid the hassles of dealing with a paper check. With Direct Deposit your funds are electronically deposited into your card account so there’s no waiting for a check to clear. Once you set up Direct Deposit with your Employer or Benefits Provider, AccountNow will process deposits as soon as they are received – which may be up to 2 days faster than you would normally receive a check from your employer or benefits provider.
When will I start getting paid early?
Not everyone will get paid earlier than the employer or benefits provider’s scheduled pay date as direct deposit and early deposit capability is subject to the employer or benefits provider’s support of the feature and the timing of the payer’s funding. If your employer or benefits provider supports direct deposit and sends funds in advance of your payday, you will see early deposits effective after the second direct deposit is received.
Can the dates of my deposits vary?
Yes, the dates of your deposits may vary depending on the timing of the employer or benefits provider’s funding.
Are all AccountNow cardholders eligible for early deposits?
Currently, this early deposit feature is only available on AccountNow Gold and classic Prepaid Visa cards issued by The Bancorp Bank. You can check the back of your card for your issuing bank. Click here to sign up. It’s important to note that not all of The Bancorp Bank deposits will post early, as it is dependent upon when we receive your deposit information. Each pay period may vary.
What if I am already enrolled in Direct Deposit?
You don’t need to do anything. If you already made more than 2 deposits, you should already have seen the benefits of this new feature and are getting paid earlier!
